Uproar over the Tush Push materialized again just weeks into the NFL season, but that doesn’t mean the path to banning it got any easier.
The Philadelphia Eagles have mastered the Tush Push, but other teams are starting to notice that they may be getting away with some false starts during the play. That’s what happened against the Los Angeles Rams, where a video shows the Eagles moving before the play, and then scoring later on in the drive.
Facing a 4th and 1 at the 3-yard-line on the team's first drive, the Eagles opted to run their favorite play: The "tush push." Jalen Hurts managed to sneak the football over the first-down line, extending the team's drive.
In the aftermath of the missed false starts when the Philadelphia Eagles were lined up to run the tush push against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2, there's a feeling from NFL executives that the play could be on its way out after this season.
After a controversial win over the Chiefs in Week 2, the Eagles started Week 3 with more of the same: early movement on the tush push.
The Tush Push remains one of the biggest topics in the NFL, but Adam Schefter isn't convinced that the controversial play is going to be banned in 2026.
Despite the anger about another year of the tush push and the debate it already has sparked this season, the controversial play might not be going anywhere. League sources told ESPN that there are no assurances that the tush push issue will be brought up for conversation or a vote by the NFL this offseason.
