DETROIT – Jimmy Fallon is taking The Tonight Show on the road, and for the first time, it’s coming to Detroit. The late-night host sat down with me ahead of Sunday’s taping at the Detroit Opera House, sharing his excitement about the city, its food, and of course, the Detroit Lions.

The president is pressuring NBC to follow in the steps of ABC and CBS and take its late-night hosts off the air.

The late night talk show is heading to Motor City for one night only — and planning a slate of hometown-hero guests.

For the fifth year, Ford is teaming up with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, this time to do an episode in the Motor City on Sept. 14.

Just as the crowd thought it was over, Bananas founder Jesse Cole, dressed in his unmistakable yellow suit and bowler hat, appeared on stage. With a flourish, he presented Fallon with an official “Honorary Banana” contract, assigning him the jersey number 19.
