Austin real estate developer Nate Paul began serving a 10-day jail sentence for contempt of court Thursday night in connection with a civil lawsuit that is unrelated to his criminal indictment accusing him of financial crimes.

Nate Paul surrendered himself to the Travis County Sheriff's Office to begin a 10-day jail sentence for criminal contempt of court, after being found guilty of perjury and violating an injunction in a lawsuit against a charity.

The embattled investor has been fighting the sentence but was ordered to report to jail in Austin related to a dispute with the Mitte Foundation.

The sentence had been delayed as Paul sought an appeal of Soifer's order. U.S. District Judge David Allan Ezra on Thursday cleared the way for Soifer to order Paul to jail. The ci
