On Tuesday, the two teams meet at Progressive Field with a chance to put a hammerlock on the American League Central title. The Tigers arrive at 85-71, one game ahead of Cleveland at 84-72. Each team has six games left on the schedule to secure a postseason spot.

The aforementioned Skubal, who left his previous start with side tightness, surrendered just one run across six innings. Guardians starter Tanner Bibee matched Skubal, however, with his own quality start.
