A former basketball coach was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual assault charges, according to the Division of Criminal Justice. Danny Lawhorn, 33, of Hartford was the basketball coach of the Connecticut AAU Girls Basketball League.

Danny Lawhorn Jr., who once coached in the Bria Holmes Elite Girls Basketball Program, was to be sentenced Thursday for sexually assaulting a player.

According to DeBarros, investigators obtained a warrant for Johnson’s arrest on charges of third-degree sexual assault, second-degree strangulation and risk of injury to a child. He was held on a $75,000 bond following his arrest and was expected to appear Friday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

A Hartford basketball coach was sentenced after sexually assaulting one of his players. The coach was identified as Danny Lawhorn, Jr., 33, from Hartford. According to the trial, police were dispatched to a hotel for a report of a sexual assault.
