Clemson QB Cade Klubnik seemingly accuses Syracuse of faking injuries after another crushing loss
The Clemson Tigers are struggling to make sense of their historically sluggish start — and their quarterback has seemingly resorted to pointing fingers.
Swinney signed a 10-year, $115 million extension with Clemson in 2021 that runs through the 2031 season and made him one of college football's highest-paid coaches. Swinney's buyout in 2025 is $60 million and only drops to $57 million in 2026. From 2027 on, the buyout is the full remaining salary left on his contract.
Clemson football's early-season struggles reached a new low on Saturday as Syracuse walked into Memorial Stadium and left with a 34-21 victory. The Tigers, once ranked No. 4 nationally, now sit at 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the ACC, their worst start since 2004 and their poorest conference opening since 2010.
Prior to Saturday, the Tigers hadn't lost a home game by more than 12 points to an unranked team since 2001 against North Carolina.
Head coach Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers entered the 2025 college football season as the No. 4-ranked team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. Now three weeks into this year’s campaign, Clemson is unranked with a 1-2 record.
