Newly unsealed court filings show Microsoft privately called OpenAI's data practices "theft" while both companies scraped paywalled Times content, built datasets from it, and warned internally it would gut publishers.

The chief executive of Microsoft AI has said unless adequate restrictions are implemented in the development of artificial intelligence it could lead to the emergence of a new species which would compete with humans.
