An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale struck Mahesana in Gujarat at around 10:15 pm on Friday night. According to the Institute of Seismological Research, Gandhinagar, the earthquake's epicentre was 13 kilometres southwest of Patan.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake was recorded in the Mahesana district of Gujarat. The earthquake was felt at Latitude 23.71 N and Longitude 72.30 E, and at a depth of 10 KM.
