Some experts warn that weakening recommendations for Covid vaccines and other shots could make it harder for some people to access jabs and have them covered.
Susan Monarez, the ousted former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, plans to warn a Senate committee Wednesday that if a vaccine panel proceeds with a meeting scheduled for this week, there's a "real risk" vaccines for children could be limited, according to testimony obtained by CBS News.
The committee, known as the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, will likely vote to shift eligibility requirements for immunizations against diseases including measles, hepatitis B and COVID-19.
Amid concern about Americans’ access to vaccines, a major health insurance association said member plans will continue to cover all shots recommended by the ACIP.
