U.S. President Donald Trump's team is moving quickly to challenge injunctions that thwarted implementation of his policies on social issues and firing federal workers after the Supreme Court limited lower courts' powers to block them.

On June 27, the Supreme Court issued its highly anticipated ruling in Trump v. CASA, a case related to birthright citizenship — a principle that grants American citizenship to the vast majority of children born in the United States.

Last week, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to restrict federal judges’ authority to grant nationwide injunctions — stating that injunctions should only be broad enough to directly cover plaintiffs in a lawsuit.
