RECAP: Texans play sloppy, lose to Jags late in fourth quarter
This is not the kind of game you recap. Not because it ended poorly for the Houston Texans but because it was such an all-around ugly game that you’d just as soon forget it happened once the clock hits all zeroes.
The biggest omission from the Texans' inactive list for Week 3 is wide receiver Christian Kirk, who's set to make his official debut for Houston after missing the first two weeks of the season with a hamstring strain, facing his former home in Jacksonville, and potentially offering a major boost to this pass-catching core.
A quick look at the Jaguars’ 17-10 victory over the Houston Texans in a 2025 Week 3 AFC South game at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville Sunday
The Houston Texans receive a warning about what an 0-3 start to the season would mean ahead of their Week 3 game.
After two missed deep throws and a flag, the Jaguars' offense stalled out to start the second quarter and then saw the Texans put together a near-seven minute drive. The drive consisted of the Texans picking up a 3rd-and-long and multiple penalties in the Jaguars' secondary, ending with a 27-yard field goal to make the score 7-3.
Houston Texans All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. is questionable to return to the game at Jacksonville on Sunday after suffering a rib injury.
Houston has surrendered just 207.5 yards passing per game this year, and with Stingley Jr. quarterbacking the team's secondary, the Texans limited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 191 yards through the air and the Los Angeles Rams to just 224 in Weeks 1 and 2.
