Sam and Ryan were amazing teachers and guides. We all caught fish and had a great time! The staff was so helpful from answering a zillion questions to ensuring our wader and boot fit was perfect. … Full review by leslie M

Hello! Thanks for reaching out! We'd love to get you on the water on June 17th. We have lots of options that vary in price, so I highly suggest visiting our website. I cannot share the link, but best to look up Gallatin River Guides and check out our trips and rates pages. Or feel free to give us a call at 406-995-2290. Probably best to call and discuss options as river conditions will also play into what we do and don't have available. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello! Thanks for your email. We'd love to get you on the water in October. Are you thinking of a guided trip(s)? All of our guided trips are catch and release--we like to put the fish back so we can catch them again and they can grow bigger! Hope that helps. We're happy to help you plan a trip in October....a great time to be out here fishing.

Q:
My son has arranged a trip to Big Sky the 1st week of August. He would like to take a float trip like we did many years ago on the White River in Arkansas. I'm not sure how many people will do the float trip at this point (I'm guessing between 5 & 8). I do know that, originally being from Kansas, none of us have ever fly fished before. When we fished the white River it was with live bait. Do you have float trips using live bait or know of guides that do this. I'm sure that you must think of this as a sacrilege. Failing all the previously mentioned, is it possible to learn the art and still be able to fish all in the same day? Thanking you in advance. Phil Kendall

Hi there Phil, August is a great time of year to visit Montana. Thanks for thinking of Gallatin River Guides! We would be happy to help you and your group out in any way possible. We do offer a variety of floating trips, although, we do specialize in fly fishing and do not offer any live bait options. That being said, it is very common for a trip to consist of both learning and fishing. Most of our clients are actually doing exactly that. We offer guides that are fantastic for teaching anybody willing to learn! A float trip consists of 2 people per boat (except for special cases) and are generally 7-8 hours. We offer floats on an assortment of rivers, but usually like to base our choice off of conditions unless there is a special request. I am not familiar with what a day on the White River is like. Here in Montana we are using a drift boat, mostly fishing from the moving boat with the guide in the middle rowing and the anglers 1 in the front and 1 in the rear. Occasionally the boat will pull over and you can fish from the banks. On an average day we are fishing about 6 to 10 miles. We also offer walk wading fly fishing trips. Below are price options for both float and wading trips. 2015 Peak Season (May through October) Trip Rates Rates are per guide, based on the number of people per guide.
